What is CC and EC in Vande Bharat?
- CC means Chair Car. It is the normal AC class with 3+2 seating (3 seats on one side and 2 on the other). There are around 78 seats in one coach.
It has normal legroom and costs less. It is good for short journeys and budget travel.
- EC means Executive Class. It is the more comfortable AC class with 2+2 seating (only window and aisle seats, no middle seat). There are around 52 seats in one coach.
It has more legroom, wider seats and 180-degree rotatable seats. You can sit face-to-face with family. It is better for long journeys if you want more comfort.
Vande Bharat CC vs EC Ticket Price Difference
EC fare is higher than CC fare because Executive Class has fewer seats, wider seats, more legroom and better food.
The final difference depends on the route, distance, date and whether food is included.
For example, food charges are also higher in EC – lunch or dinner is usually ₹244 in EC and ₹222 in CC. Always check the final fare for your train and date on IRCTC before booking.

The menu has limited items like paratha/roti, dal, paneer/chicken curry, and ice cream.

- Check the Route and Timing: If your journey is under 4 hours (for example, New Delhi to Ambala), blindly choose Chair Car (CC). Your ₹1000 will not go to waste.
- Senior Citizens and Families: If you are traveling with elderly people or traveling for a business meeting where you need to work on a laptop, choose Executive Class (EC).
The seat tables are bigger, and dedicated laptop charging points are given with every single seat. (CC also has charging points, but EC has more space to work on a laptop.)
- Budget Multiplier: If you are traveling with a large family (5 to 6 people), choosing EC will increase your total budget by up to ₹6000.
