Vande Bharat Sleeper Ticket Price and Classess
This is one of the few Vande Bharat trains in India where sleeper berths are used instead of sitting seats. It has three classes:
- AC 3-Tier (3A): Fare is Rs. 2435. It has standard 3-tier berths but cushion and space is much better than normal trains.
- AC 2-Tier (2A): Fare is Rs. 3145. You get curtains for privacy and more moving space.
- AC First Class (1A): Fare is Rs. 3855. This is for people who want cabin space like a flight.
Food and Tatkal Rules:
- No Food Option: If you select no food at the time of booking, food charges will be removed from ticket price.

- Tatkal Ticket Charges: This route has heavy rush. If you book Tatkal ticket at last minute, you have to pay Rs. 300 to Rs. 500 extra as per your class – 3A, 2A.

Vande Bharat Sleeper Tatkal Quota & Booking Rules
Tatkal booking for 2A and 3A opens one day before your travel date at 10:00 AM. There is no Tatkal quota in AC First Class (1A).
There is no RAC option in this sleeper train and you cannot board with a waitlisted Tatkal ticket.

This train crosses whole North Bengal before morning and enters the hills of Assam. The major stops are given below:
- Bandel Junction (BDC) – 06:56 PM: First short stop after leaving Kolkata.
- Nabadwip Dham (NDAE) – 07:36 PM: An important stop for religious travellers.
- Malda Town (MLDT) – 10:50 PM: Train stops here for 10 minutes. This is a big crew change and technical halt.
- New Jalpaiguri (NJP) – 01:40 AM: Main station for Siliguri / Darjeeling. Train stops here for 10 minutes.
- New Alipurduar (NOQ) – 03:48 AM: Last big stop of North Bengal.
- New Bongaigaon (NBQ) – 05:20 AM: First main junction after entering Assam.
- Rangiya Junction (RNY) – 06:50 AM: Last stop just before Kamakhya.
Howrah and Kamakhya Station Guide: Platform and Entry / Exit Rules
Howrah Junction (HWH) Boarding: 27575 Vande Bharat Sleeper usually leaves from Old Complex (Platform No. 6) of Howrah.
- Entry Tip: If you have heavy trolley bags, use VIP Entry or Platform 1-6 side gate at Howrah Station.
You will get vehicle drop close to the platform and you don’t need to carry bags for long. Near Platform 6 you will easily get big ramps and escalators.
Kamakhya Junction (KYQ) De-boarding: This train arrives at Platform No. 4 of Kamakhya Junction at 08:20 AM.
- Exit Guide: After getting off the train, you will get escalator on foot overbridge to go to main exit.
If you want to go to Maa Kamakhya Temple, Maligaon or direct city centre, use Main Exit (South Side / Platform 1 Side).
If you want to avoid crowd and take bypass road, use North Side exit.
Luggage Allowance / Weight Limit
As per Indian Railways rules, free luggage limit is different for each class:
- Free Allowance:
AC First Class (1A) – 70 kg, AC 2-Tier (2A) – 50 kg, AC 3-Tier (3A) – 40 kg. In 3A this is also the maximum you can carry inside the coach. - Size Limit:
Trunks, suitcases and boxes having size 100 cm x 60 cm x 25 cm are allowed inside passenger coaches as personal luggage.
If size is bigger than this, you have to book it in brake van. For AC 3-Tier and AC Chair Car, allowed size is smaller – 55 cm x 45 cm x 22.5 cm.
- Extra Luggage Rule:
You can carry extra luggage up to maximum limit by paying 1.5 times the normal luggage charge. Cycle and heavy goods are not allowed inside the cabin.
Howrah To Kamakhya Vande Bharat Cancellation & Refund Policy
Indian Railways has made separate and strict cancellation rules for Vande Bharat Sleeper. Refund depends on when you cancel:
- More than 72 Hours Before Departure: If you cancel confirmed ticket more than 72 hours before departure, 25% amount will be deducted.
- 72 Hours to 8 Hours Before Departure: If you cancel between 72 hours to 8 hours before departure, 50% amount will be deducted.
Policy - Less than 8 Hours Before Departure: If you cancel within 8 hours of departure, no refund will be given.
Chart and TDR Rule:
- Chart Preparation: Final chart of this train is prepared 8 hours before departure.
- No Auto-Cancellation: After deadline, e-ticket will not be auto-cancelled and TDR cannot be filed.

Outside Kamakhya Junction local taxi and auto drivers bargain a lot. To avoid extra charge, keep these points in mind:

In Guwahati Uber and Rapido are very active.
Near the parking zone of the station they have a fixed pick-up spot. In the morning cabs are easily available. - ASTC / Prepaid Counter:
Outside the station you will get tourist taxis and shared wingers that go directly to Shillong or Paltan Bazar.

- Kamakhya Station to Kamakhya Temple (Hill Top):
Private auto / taxi takes Rs. 200 – Rs. 250 because of hilly road.
- Rapido Bike (to Paltan Bazar / City Centre):

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Thursday Plan: This train runs 6 days in a week and does not run from Howrah on Thursday. Many people search for Thursday ticket for weekend plan and make mistake.
- Guwahati Junction (GHY) Confusion: Many people think this train will go to main Guwahati Station (GHY).
This train ends at Kamakhya Junction (KYQ) only. From Kamakhya, main city centre is about 6-8 KM ahead.
- Waiting List: Sleeper Vande Bharat has limited coaches. Waiting list on this route clears very slowly, so always try for confirmed tickets only.

My Tips From This Journey:
- Window seats in Vande Bharat Sleeper are bigger than normal Rajdhani.
If you are booking 2A or 3A, try to get lower berth so in the morning between New Bongaigaon to Kamakhya you can see Brahmaputra river and green valleys of Assam while lying down.
One more thing, when train enters Assam at around 07:30 AM network goes up and down, so save your work and tickets offline before
- Food and Meal Time: Train leaves at 06:20 PM. Just after boarding, by 06:45 PM you will get high-tea, chips and sweets. Dinner is served by 09:15 PM (before Malda Town).
In Vande Bharat Sleeper only pure veg dinner is served like Pulao, Dal, Paratha and Sabzi and its quality is very good. In morning at 07:15 AM you will get tea with bed breakfast like Cutlet / Upma.
- Luggage Space: Since this is a sleeper train, space under the seat is much bigger than normal Vande Bharat Chair Car.
Still if you have big international size boxes, lock them in the special luggage racks made near the coach gate.
